On the Education Week website you can read the Op Ed piece by Marty Elkins entitled "When Rankings Go Wrong".

Rankings of colleges and schools do more harm than good for students and parents trying to make sound decisions. ACCIS tried to stop an effort to rank schools in the summer of 2007.

Now the same person is trying again, contacting schools (especially our admissions offices to get their yield rate) as an “independent educational consultant.”

Share the article with folks in your schools, particularly Heads, Communications and Admissions. The more unified we all can be—if we are—the better luck we will have stopping those who think that ranking—colleges or schools--is helpful.
