2009 Summer Institute @ Colorado College: A Success!

Printer-friendly version

Over the course of three beautiful days in Colorado Springs, 92 college counselors from 76 different independent schools came together from all corners of the United States to learn more about how to support the students in their care.  The second annual ACCIS “Meeting of Independent Minds” featured compelling speakers, small group discussions, social gatherings, campus tours, and Rocky Mountain hikes, all designed to foster learning and collegiality.  In addition to these offerings, counselors were also able to learn more about host site Colorado College, as well as the University of Denver during an extensive campus visit and dinner.   Add to this mix the essential work of the ACCIS Executive Committee and Board of Directors in meetings beforehand, as well as their reporting to the membership at the close of the Institute, and this second annual gathering was even more successful than the first.  After the Institute, about two dozen counselors visited Colorado State University and had dinner in Fort Collins, after which they spent some quality time on Pearl Street in Boulder, before a final morning visit to the University of Colorado.  All our hosts were marvelous.  Before reading about all that made ACCIS @ Colorado College such a special event, mark your calendars for the Third Annual Summer Institute, June 20-24, 2010, to be hosted by Agnes Scott College and Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
