ARRIVAL
Travel to this year’s Summer Institute is about as easy as it gets.  Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is the nations busiest airport and Atlanta is the primary hub of Delta/Northwest.  Every major airline will have multiple flights into and out of the city on nearly any schedule you could require.  Try Kayak to shop multiple fares at once.

TRANSFERS
Once you arrive there are multiple options for getting to the Agnes Scott College campus in Decatur, which is a close-in suburb on the east side of Atlanta.  The cheapest and best option is probably taking MARTA, our version of rapid transit.  A one-way fare is $2 and the ride should take less than a half hour.  There is a MARTA station inside the airport and the train runs right into Decatur.  From there you can either take the 10-minute walk to Agnes Scott or catch a cab.

There are multiple shuttles and cab options as well, which will run anywhere from $20 to $40 dollars.  Finally, though you should not need one, every major car rental agency has a desk in the airport.

CHECK IN
Check in will be held throughout the afternoon on Sunday, June 20th and it is hoped everyone will be able to join us for a reception and dinner hosted by Agnes Scott College starting around 6pm.  Late check in may be available.  We will collect as much arrival information as we can later in the spring to allow for stragglers.

PROGRAM
Most meals and all transportation throughout the conference will be provided in the Institute fee or by our host institutions.  We will be spending time at Emory and Georgia Tech.  Decatur is a charming town with multiple bars and restaurants within walking distance of Agnes Scott.  We’re working on social opportunities in town as well as the world famous ACCIS social suite, where many of the most pressing issues about college admissions are discussed and resolved.

DEPARTURE
In past years the Summer Institute has concluded around noon on Wednesday.  Unless you are planning on participating in the post-Institute tour of the University of Georgia, Spellman College, and Morehouse College, you should try and arrange departures no earlier than 3pm.  See transfer instructions above for information on getting back to the airport.  We may also try and organize shuttles once we get closer to the Institute dates.

PRE- and POST-INSTITUTE

For individuals or groups who would like to arrive earlier there is the potential that Agnes Scott can offer housing for Saturday, June 19th.  Additionally, the Atlanta Braves will be playing home games against the Kansas City Royals on the evening of the 19th and the afternoon of the 20th, arrangements can be made to get tickets for those who are interested.  Please email Gavin Bradley for more information.

The popular Post-Institute College Tour is now open for registration.  Participants will depart for the University of Georgia in Athens around noon on Wednesday the 23rd.  We will be hosted by Nancy McDuff, Associate Vice President of Admission and Enrollment Management, and her staff for a tour of campus and dinner.  After an overnight in Athens, we will return to Atlanta for tours of Spellman College and Morehouse College and lunch with the admission staffs of those institutions.  Departures should be arranged no earlier than 2pm on June 24th.  Cost for the post-Institute tour is $50, please register here.
