ACCIS is excited to announce that there will be two colloquiums in the summer of 2011.
The New York Colloquium is being hosted by Sarah Lawrence College from Sunday, July 31 to Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Click here for the schedule (06/20/11).

Several sessions at the 2010 conference dealt with subjects related to our colloquia discussions. We recommend that you review notes from any of the sessions below which you might have attended.
If you did not attend the sessions at the 2010 NACAC conference, and you would like to listen to them, you can purchase a CD recording at a cost of $20 each from the NACAC site. 1:00 pm Counselors arrive at Nashville Airport by 1PM CST for transport to Sewanee.
3:00-4:00 pm Arrive at Sewanee and check into rooms.
4:00-5:30 pm Sewanee Admissions - Tour/ Info Session/ Reception
6:00-7:00 pm First Discussion: Responsibility and the Drinking Age with Vice-Chancellor John McCardell - McClurg Hall
7:00 pm Dinner with the Vice-Chancellor - Clement Chen Hall
Dinner and drinks at the home of Vice-Chancellor and Mrs. McCardell
8:30 pm Social Time - St. Luke's Hall
Thursday, July 21st

8:30-10:00 am Second Discussion: Developmental Needs and Tasks of Adolescents With Eric Hartman, Sewanee Dean of Students.
10:00-10:15 am Coffee Break
10:15-11:30 am Third Discussion: How does the philosophy of the Independent Curriculum Group (ICG) address developmental needs of students? Led by Bruce Hammond (Executive Director -ICG Group) and faculty from St. Andrews-Sewanee Independent School (ICG Member School)
11:30 am-12:00 pm Check out and Board Buses to Rhodes (Box lunches will be provided)
12:00-5:00 pm *Movies (The Race to Nowhere and 500 Words or Less) and lunch aboard bus.
5:00 pm Arrival and Check in at Rhodes

8:30-10:00 am Fourth Discussion: How can the Common Application better serve developmental needs of students while also meeting college/university needs? With Scott Anderson from the Common Application

10:15-11:45 am Fifth Discussion: Moving Forward - Based on the presentations, movies, suggested pre-conference readings, what specifically can we do at the micro (our schools) and macro (national/international) levels to provide developmentally appropriate college counseling~services to our students that will also foster healthy change in the college admissions process? Moderated by a Rhodes Psychology Professor
12:00-1:00 pm Lunch
1:00-3:00 pm Best Practices Sharing - How do you do this? Breakout sessions
3:00-5:30 pm Free time/option for continued discussion Access to campus facilities or visit local historic sites w/ admission staff: Civil Rights Museum, Graceland, St. Jude's or Stax Museum
6:30 pm Dinner: "Rendezvous" restaurant in Memphis w/ admissions representatives.
12:00 midnight Final transport back to Rhodes from Memphis nightlife.
Saturday, July 23
7:00 am Bus back to Nashville Airport and Departures home (box breakfast provided)
10:30 am Arrive at Nashville Airport

Please note that this Colloquium concludes with a bus trip from Memphis back to Nashville on Saturday morning. Mapquest estimated driving time is 3 hours and 22 minutes, so we should arrive at the Nashville airport by 10:30 AM.
