ACCIS Programs Update:
TO REGISTER FOR ANY ACCIS EVENT:
Pre-Institute for New College Counselors, Trinity College, Hartford, CT
ACCIS Pre-Institute for New College Counselors will be held June 23-25, 2017. The program is designed for college counselors who are new to the profession, whether just starting out or “crossing the desk” from admissions. This small gathering of approximately 30 participants and led by seasoned ACCIS mentors focuses on essential skills, knowledge and strategies for guiding students (and parents) through the college search, learning about college options, and networking resources for continued professional growth.
The Pre-Institute takes place on the weekend preceding the Summer Institute, beginning Friday evening and concluding by Sunday noon. Registration will open on Monday, March 6 at 12:00 pm ET; attendees may choose to register separately for the Summer Institute. Please contact Pre-Institute coordinator Amy Wintermeyer or Program co-chair Lisa Clay with questions.
Summer Institute, Trinity College, Hartford, CT
Summer Institute will be held June 25-28, 2017. Since the first summer gathering in 2008, the Summer Institute has become a “must-do” professional development event for independent school college counselors. In 2017, Trinity College will host 300 counselors for three days in late June for informative and thought-provoking presentations led by fellow ACCIS members, and roundtable discussions highlighting best practices, innovations, and fundamental challenges in our profession. Prominent national thinkers, writers and educators set the tone through keynote presentations and open dialogue with attendees. Opportunities to tour nearby colleges as well as the host campus, plus informal networking and social opportunities, make the Summer Institute a comprehensive, reinvigorating and influential experience.
Session proposals for Summer Institute will be available to members in January 2017; registration will open on Monday, March 6 at 12:00 pm ET. Please contact Program co-chair Lisa Clay with questions.

Colloquium, University of Denver, CO
Wait List Registration - Program is full.
ACCIS will host our summer Colloquium at the University of Denver. The Colloquium will kick off with a full program at DU, including a case study roundtable discussion led by the Denver admissions team, and will be followed by a full afternoon at the Colorado School of Mines. For the second half of the program, we will welcome back Dave Mochel of Applied Attention, who, over the course of three 3-hour sessions, will focus on wellbeing in schools. (Attendance at last year's Rhode Island colloquium on mindfulness is not required, and those who did attend will not find this program repetitive.) Attendees should plan to be in Denver by 2:00 pm on Monday, July 24th; the program will conclude at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 27th. All meals will be covered except an evening dinner in downtown Denver. Single occupancy residence hall rooms and air-conditioning for all. A social highlight of the colloquium will be a tour of the Coors Brewery in Golden. A schedule can be found here .
Come join us for two in-depth college tours, a provocative program led by an outstanding mindfulness professional, and some reaffirming ACCIS collegiality. The registration will open on Monday, February 13th at 12:00 pm ET and the cost will be $450 per attendee ($350 for commuters). All attendees are expected to participate in all Colloquium events.
New Directors of College Counseling Workshop
NEW PROGRAM FOR 2017!! More detailed information to come.
In order to support new college counseling office directors within our member schools, ACCIS is pleased to announce the New Directors' Workshop, an intentional gathering to assist our organization’s directors of college counseling (or equivalent titles) who will start the next academic year with 0-3 years of experience in that role. This program is geared toward those with prior college counseling experience in schools; for directors brand new to college counseling in independent schools, the Pre-Institute for New College Counselors may be the preferred choice, but is not a prerequesite for this program.
Please contact ACCIS Executive Director Emmi Harward with questions.
